Our Doctors

Dr. Lee Fausett, DVM

Dr. Lee Fausett, DVMDr. Fausett is Hanford Veterinary Hospital’s majority owner and Chief of Staff. A graduate of Oregon State University (1987), Dr. Fausett practiced veterinary medicine in Butte County, California, prior to his purchase of Hanford Veterinary Hospital in 1996. Dr. Fausett has an interest in orthopedic surgery and ultrasound. In addition to his work at Hanford Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Fausett is the founder of The Brando Fund, which provides veterinary care and services to the K-9 forces of the Kings County Sherriff’s Department. Dr. Fausett is also a member of the Rotary Club of Hanford. Dr. Fausett and his family enjoy their life in Hanford.

Dr Satender Kumar, DVM

Dr Satender Kumar, DVMDr Satender Kumar was born and raised in India. A graduate of Hisar veterinary college (2009) and post graduate of veterinary anatomy from Ludhiana veterinary college (2011), his experience also includes working as an assistant professor of veterinary anatomy (2011-2012), he missed interacting with his four legged friends making him change his profession from teaching to a mixed animal practitioner. Dr Kumar worked with dairy farms and small animals (2012-2014). In October 2014, he migrated to USA. Dr Kumar passed his equivalency exams and became a Veterinarian in California in May 2016. Hanford veterinary hospital welcomed him in August 2016 where he continues to learn and grow. He loves to travel with his wife Devi. He also enjoys cooking, gardening, playing tennis, hiking and bird watching.

Dr. Rhett Swasey, DVM

Dr. Rhett Swasey, DVMHanford Veterinary Hospital welcomed Dr. Rhett Swasey in August 2007. He is a partner of Hanford Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Fausett. Originally from Utah, Dr. Swasey discovered his passion for veterinary care while growing up on his family’s farm. Dr. Swasey received his undergraduate degree from Utah State University in molecular biology and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Swasey, his wife Marie, and their children, Austin and Olivia, enjoy the small town atmosphere of Hanford and all our community has to offer. His family also includes two Scottish terriers, Annie and Lily.

Dr. Judy Walt, DVM

Dr. Judy Walt, DVMDr. Walt has been practicing veterinary medicine with Hanford Veterinary Hospital since 1986. A graduate of the University of California, Davis (1970), Dr. Walt takes a special interest in internal medicine. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys gardening, bird watching, and volunteering time with church and local schools with audio/visual equipment, and she serves as a school board member.

Dr. Phil Vasseur, DVM, DACVS

Dr. Vasseur has been an orthopedic consultant for Hanford Veterinary Hospital since 1998. Dr. Vasseur is a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and was a member of the faculty at the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine for more than 20 years. Additionally, Dr. Vasseur was the Chief of Orthopedics for the program for a number of years and published more than 58 scientific papers on the subject of canine orthopedics. He has also authored numerous book chapters and was the section editor for Orthopedics in a major veterinary surgery textbook. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Veterinary Surgery (the official journal of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons) for 11 years. Dr. Vasseur consults with our veterinarians about orthopedic procedures.

Management

Paula Fausett, Hospital Administrator

PaulaPaula is a graduate of Butte College. As the hospital administrator, she is involved in every aspect of the hospital’s business operations. Paula is the mother of two grown children and the owner of one cockatiel. She enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy by authors such as Terry Goodkind, Anne McCaffrey, and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Marci, RVT, CPDT-KA

Marci, DVMMarci has been at Hanford Veterinary Hospital since 1984. Not only is Marci our lead technician, but also she is a registered veterinary technician (RVT) and is a certified pet dog trainer – knowledge assessed (CPDT-KA). She is currently working toward specializing in behavior and anesthesiology through Veterinary Technician Academy. Marci teaches our obedience training course, consults on behavior issues, and trains through private obedience classes. She is a member of NAVTA, APDT, SVTB, CPDT-KA, SARII Tech, Fresno Dog Training Club, Way Out West Schutzhund Club and vice president of the Brando Fund. Outside of veterinary hospital she enjoys hobbies such as obedience competition, Schutzhund competition, hiking, reading, and belly dancing. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and her animal family, which now consists of a variety of pets: Zuri, Great Pyrenees (Registered Therapy Dog); Draco, German shepherd (protection trained); Pfoosa, English bulldog (obedience training); Einon, Bouvier des Flanders (Schutzhund Training); Bowen, English bulldog (obedience competition training); Beaky, 28-year-old Amazon parrot; Kaleb, 14-year-old African Grey; Tuey, 7-year-old Military Macaw; Ghost, cat (who earned her respect); and assorted laying hens.

Savannah, RVT

SavannahSavannah became part of the Hanford Veterinary Hospital family in August 2013. She is a current student at SJVC in Fresno Veterinary Technician Program. We are excited to help nourish her development into an RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician). She is the mother of two young boys and shares her home with Lucky, a Dutch rabbit; Baby, a Lion Head rabbit; and Bambi, a Chihuahua. She enjoys spending time with her family and the fine arts in her free time.

CristalCristal joined the family at Hanford Veterinary Hospital after a high school internship in January 2012. Cristal is a current student at Fresno State and is working toward her degree in pre-veterinary animal science. She is a fan of movies, music, and concerts. She has a guilty pleasure of eating junk food. She is the proud parent of a 9-year-old poodle and 11-year-old turtle.

Shawna

ShawnaShawna became part of the Hanford Veterinary Hospital family in July 2005. She is an asset to our practice with her telephone skills. Shawna shares her home with her husband, Chris, and three kitties, Simon, Simone, and Sophie. Her hobbies include collecting unusual purses, bowling, bicycling, and listening to Christmas music year round.

Susie

SusieSusie became part of Hanford Veterinary Hospital in March 2010. She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and is currently working on her teaching certification. Susie has a beautiful daughter who helps to keep her on her toes. She also has Chloe, a typical calico cat. Susie has spent 15 years in live theatre. Her hobbies include reading, playing piano and flute, and shopping.

AliciaAlicia has been with Hanford Veterinary Hospital since February 2003 and enjoys working with all sorts of pets. Every day is a new learning experience, which make every day worth waking up to and going to work. Alicia believes you can learn a great deal from animals, such as loyalty, trust, and compassion. If you open your heart and mind, and give them a chance, animals will never give up on you. She lives in Hanford with her husband, daughter, and guinea pig, Nibbles.

Glenna

GlennaGlenna has been at team member at Hanford Veterinary Hospital since February 2002. She grew up in Minnesota and traveled with her parents during her high school years, in fact she attended Lemoore High School during the 11th grade while still roofing the hangers on NAS. She is very involved in the activities of her four children. Glenna is also active with the Guide Dogs for the Blind program and has trained six dogs now. She shares her home with two dogs, Powell (career changed guide dog) and Laughlin (guide dog in training), and three cats, Tarrah, Target, Katniss. Her hobbies include crafts, quilting, jigsaw puzzles (1000+ or higher), and writing fiction stories and poems.

Kayla

KaylaKayla joined Hanford Veterinary Hospital in August 2013. She is a recent graduate of Hanford High and currently attends the College of the Sequoias in Animal Science. She shows a special interest in animal behavior. She has two dogs and one cat. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family and friends.

SaraSara joined Hanford Veterinary Hospital in June 2012. Born and raised in Kings County, she grew up on her family’s farm with sheep, goats, cattle, horses, and chickens. She has been involved with the 4H, FFA, and Fresno Bully Rescue. She has one dog, Sydney, and one cat, Belle. The most enjoyable part of her day is petting the patients that come in to see us.

Susan

SusanSusan’s career working with animals started 1983 volunteering at the Kings SPCA as a freshman in high school. She then took a different path and became part of the family at Hanford Veterinary Hospital in July 2005. She enjoys coming to work and being part of the care for our clients and patients in the exam rooms. Outside of work, Susan enjoys gardening in her flower beds, caring for her fish pond, and family gatherings. She is involved with raising funds for the Brando Fund and Paws & Claws program. Susan lives in Hanford with her better half, son, stepson, stepdaughter, and three cats, Marbles, Kitty, and Foxtail.
