Obedience Training: Finding Your Pet's Best Behavior
You can teach an old dog new tricks. But why wait until they are old? At Hanford Veterinary Hospital, we know there is no time like the present to teach your dog the life skills needed to get along with the pack.
Obedience and behavior training are more than just teaching your dog to sit, stay, come, and roll over—although that is certainly a big part of it. Instead, when you work with your dog on behavior training, you are really opening up the ability to communicate with your dog and establish the social hierarchy of the pack in a healthy way that fosters trust and compliance.
Hanford Veterinary Hospital offers a full range of obedience and behavior services for pets living in the Hanford, Lemoore, and surrounding areas. We are proud to have CPDT-KA certified, award-winning trainer Marci on staff as facilitator for our obedience school. She is a professional member of the APDT and the Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians.
Classes offered can begin with a 6-week puppy preschool for puppies ranging in age from 8 weeks to 5 months old. This program is designed to facilitate confident, happy, well-adjusted puppies.
For the older pups and adult dogs, the hands-on, 6–week behavior and obedience programs offered by Hanford Veterinary Hospital are designed to help your dog with the following issues:
- Learning Theory
- Basic Obedience
- Interpreting Canine Behavior
- Establishing Boundaries
This class is an excellent follow-up to the puppy preschool, leading to a wonderful companion throughout the lifetime of your dog.
Behavioral issues including aggression and separation anxiety can be addressed through an obedience consultation.
