Picture Purr-fect: Diagnostic Tools for Hanford Pets

It is a simple, but often sad, truth that your pets cannot tell you what is ailing them. Fortunately, Hanford Veterinary Hospital is fully equipped to diagnose your pet with our digital X-ray and ultrasound equipment, if the need arises.
Digital X-ray and ultrasound technology are noninvasive, painless, and safe diagnostic tools that allow our staff to provide effective treatment for your pet by producing high-resolution images of his or her internal organs and their functions. These images allow us to better understand the inner workings of your pet and diagnose illnesses or complications that may not be apparent through an external exam.
Digital X-ray technology uses a very low dose of radiation, which is completely safe for your pet and can be used to diagnose conditions such as:
- Broken bones
- Chronic arthritis
- Bladder and kidney stones
- Cancer

Ultrasound technology uses ultrasound waves (as opposed to radiation) and can produce real-time images of your pet's organ functions. Ultrasound technology is an essential component of our cardiology services and is useful in evaluating the following pet heart issues:
- Heartbeat and contractions of the heart muscle
- Abnormalities in heart valves
- Heart size
Pregnancy health concerns and other wellness issues can also be detected with ultrasound technology.
Should you have any questions regarding our radiology and ultrasound services, please do not hesitate to contact our staff.
